Got transfer calls today... thought I couldn't possibly get any closer to the mission office. hahaha. Turns out I was wrong... I'm opening up the Samsung area for the sisters (they call it whitewashing). And I'm half-training a Korean sister who I proselyted with two days after she came to mission (I see a pattern here... hahaha). AND I was called to be the new Sister Training Leader (kind of like zone leader, but just for the sisters...). It's super crazy. I feel super inadequate. But somehow I'm at peace with it all. God knows what He's doing. And I've learned... It will be okay. (personal motto when the craziness happens)
The cool thing is that I already know a lot of the Samsung area (we basically covered it already hahaha). And Sister Sallander will be Sister Yoo's new companion!! (THEY ARE SISTERS!! I TRAINED BOTH OF THEM!^^) AND I WILL SEE THEM EVERY WEEK AT DISTRICT MEETING!! Also, I will be able to see many of my beloved Dunsan and Sunhua ward members at stake events... I am elated.
The Lord never ceases to blow my mind with His wisdom.
Speaking of which, today I wanted to share a bit more of Sister Lee's story, since honestly things all happened pretty fast last week (she got baptized within two weeks of us officially starting the lessons with her... hahaha)
The story starts at day three after transferring to this area (way back in November). We had an appointment with a less active who lives in Samsung area. Neither me nor my companion knew the area, and we ended up getting lost. Like middle of now where, end of the bus line kind of lost... I called up the sister to say we wouldn't be making it, and honestly worrying if we'd even make it back home to our apartment on time. She was pretty angry with us, saying missionaries have cancelled on her before using that excuse, and didn't want us to call to meet her again.
We ended up finding the bus back home, pretty confused at what had happened when I heard her apartment name on the speaker for the next stop. I had this subtle but strong feeling to get off the bus and go visit her. I grabbed my companion and we got off the bus, running to her apartment because we had no time!
Showed up at her door and gave her a bag of apples a member had given us at our last appointment. She was surprised to see us, and accepted our apologies, agreeing to meet us the next week!
We visited this sister pretty regularly throughout my time here. She was a recent convert from Cheonan who recently moved to the area (my trainer actually helped baptize her when she served there!!) and honestly wasn't progressing too much. But we felt the need to keep visiting.
In March she began to come to church again... and introduced us to one of her daughter's school friends who's mom wanted her daughters to study English with us! My companion and I visited this family for the first time 3 days after we became new companions... and this family was baptized last week!
I am so grateful for the opportunity to have served here in Dunsan and Sunhua Wards. I am thankful for all of the INCREDIBLE people I have met. For all of the incredible experiences and opportunities I've had. As a missionary, I never cease to be amazed by God's great love and wisdom. The words of that sacrament hymn often repeat in my mind... I know God lives. I know He is our Father. And I know He loves us, SO MUCH!!
"But behold, all things have been done in the wisdom of him who knoweth all things."
