Despite this last week being full of ups and downs, at the end of each day I marvel at the way God's work is perfect. We had about 75 percent of our appointments cancel this last week, yet through lots of prayer and faith God directed us to better things. It seriously blows my mind...
One of the miracles this last week was meeting this guy on the subway while heading toward a teaching appointment. A series of little events, like the appointment time changing, getting on at a place we usually wouldn't get on, and so forth allowed for a small miracle to happen! This guy we were standing next to started talking to us and asked us if we were the same kind of missionaries for the same church as these two guys he had met the previous week. At first it seemed a bit weird (culturally it's a bit strange to talk to strangers of the opposite gender around the same age as you), but as we kept talking he seemed to have a lot of interest in what we missionaries were doing. We were able to get him set up to meet the elders in his area that very same day. Afterwards they called us to say that he was one of the most prepared people they had met!! And the guy had said that meeting two sets of missionaries on the street within a week from each other must have been a sign from God! God is good. :) It was a tender mercy to Sister McQueen and me also. And another experience that testified to me that this work is the Lord's work, and He knows how to do it perfectly. We as missionaries are just simple, blunt, and sometimes clueless instruments.
Also!! Our investigator 정나연 (Jong Nah Yeon) has a baptism scheduled for tomorrow! She's 17 in Korean age and is the sweetest girl ever. She's been a bit sick and we are fasting as a district for her and her mom right now (so her mom will feel the spirit and convert... and that the baptism will happen). If ya'll could pray for them also, that would be awesome... love you all!! Her mom's name is 강소영 (Kang So Young).
Reminds me a bit of one of the scripture mastery scriptures from seminary all those years ago: "For my thoughts are not yours thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts." (Isaiah 55:8-9) I know when we exercise our faith and trust in the Lord, we will illuminate parts in the path before us, and guide us in our lives towards greater things than we could even hope to imagine for ourselves. His plan is perfect--He knows best! He wants ultimate happiness and joy for us. As we trust in Him, no seeming failure or setback will ever be permanent.
As far as other news, there isn't too much! Sister McQueen and I are just doing our best and trying to work hard~ God is merciful and has been helping us out so much! There are more tender mercies than I can count, and everyday has it's moments of craziness, sprinting, and laughter. Such is missionary life. We are living the dream. :)
Oh!!! AND I MET THE OWNER OF THAT KOREAN SHOP IN OREM!! The Pink Kokiri (Elephant, in Korean) accessory store. The world is so small... crazy!!
Have a wonderful week, everyone!
