Well, this last week was pretty crazy with all its changes!!
I was feeling pretty nervous about getting my new greenie... I'm not sure which was more scary--anticipating getting an American companion or a Korean one. Hahaha. After praying about it though, I felt assured that not only was it right, but that the Lord would help me along the way. Yay for growing experiences!! ^^
Here's a huge tender mercy though... Transfer meeting was on Thursday, and we actually only find out who we will be training right before we meet them!! However, since Sister McQueen and I are the closest sisters to the mission office, we get to help out quite a bit! One of the things we help out with every transfer is a new missionary proselyting activity, where we go on splits with the new sisters and contact people on the street for a couple hours. (Opening your mouth can be pretty scary as a new missionary... I honestly remember being scared to death that first time... hahaha). So on Wednesday we went and actually met the new missionaries! There were three new Korean sisters, so we left it up to fate to determine how we would divide... and played a game akin to rock, paper, scissors! I got paired up with one of the sisters, and Sister McQueen took the other two. (Who, by the way came from Vancouver Canada and knows one of the Elders from my MTC district serving there!)
It was a blast proselyting with this sister-- 유아영 (Yu Ah Young) 자매님!! I think being on splits with her helped me calm my nerves a bit and I realized just how exciting it would be to train again! The next day when we found out who our new companions would be... turns out it was her!!! Pretty crazy, right!? She's super awesome... loves to laugh and works hard!! Also, it turns out she was in school for a bit before coming out on her mission. Her major is Chinese! ^^ We were meant to be companions!
Anywho, this last week has been pretty great! I'm realizing that despite the fact that her language is WAY better than mine (native speaker), we actually can learn a lot of things from one another. I feel a lot like a parent, actually... I want to give her the best advantage in the next transfer that will bless her for the rest of her time serving the Lord as a missionary.
Yesterday I was reading in Alma 7--one of my favorite chapters. There are so many verses in there that stand out to me (11-13 are awesome, but those will be for another time)! One of them specifically is found in verse 20. Alma testifies of the straightness of God--He cannot lie nor deceive. He does not vary from what He says. I know this to be true, as I've felt it this last week! God promises blessings when we are obedient. I know we can always trust His promises! I know He loves us and that in giving ourselves more completely to Him, THAT is how we are happy. These days I feel so full of happiness and light. I know this to be true. Also, I am grateful for His sending His son!! I know He lives, and because He lives we will also live again!
HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!
