My companion and I have been striving to push ourselves to exercise faith and open our mouths more this week! I think I have had more awkward moments than I've had these last few weeks... but that's okay! Embrace the awkwardness. As a result, we've been able to teach more and also receive more referrals. Also, we've been teaching the newly adopted daughter (and her sister) of a member of the ward. She's 11 years old, Korean age. On Friday we taught her about the doctrine of Christ, complete with an illustration! (We drew a pathway leading to the kingdom of God.) She's been attending church and talks about how Jesus is her role model (golden investigator or what!? :) ) She's the sweetest. She also agreed to be baptized next month!
Yesterday we had Stake Conference and Elder Richard Maines came to speak. It was awesome being able to hear (and understand . . . ENGLISH!) his inspired words! He talked of the importance of establishing Zion in the home before we can ever hope to establish Zion in the church. The home is where it starts. In order to do so, we must teach a culture of righteousness. One of the most important things is realizing that what the world teaches is false -- things like "in order for me to win, all others must lose." Really, what Christ taught is that for us to win, others must win first. Just as the scriptures teach, (Mark 10:31) we must put others before ourselves. I know as we do this we will not only become better people, but we will also find peace and happiness.
Anywho, have a great week!
