Great things have been happening this last week! We continue to meet new investigators and things are kind of snowballing right now. (Kinda a pun, seeing as how it started snowing again this morning!) This last week was again crazy busy, having to run literally from appointment to appointment at times. At the end of the day though, after closing our day with a prayer of gratitude and collapsing into bed, there isn't anything else I'd rather be doing. Life is Korea is fun and all, with all it's crazy bus drivers, incredible bean-filled street food, and all other food, and halmonis who coon over us foreigners. But those fun experiences are nothing compared to the joy I experience doing the Lord's work. This time is an incredible privilege. Above all else I'm so grateful for those individuals that God has placed into my path and allowed me to love. And for how much closer I have grown to Him in the process.
This last Saturday marks a tender experience Sister McQueen and I had with one of our investigators! We've been meeting with this Sister for a little bit longer than since I've come here. She actually lives up near Seoul, but comes down every weekend to visit her parents, to meet with us, and come to English class. She's been super busy and hasn't been keeping our invititations very consistently... We were considering dropping her since she wasn't progressing too much, but have been praying super hard. This last Saturday as soon as we started studying, she asked if we could just talk about the Book of Mormon that day! She had read up to Chapter 7 of First Nephi, and LOVED IT! IT WAS A MIRACLE! Seriously! I could not stop smiling! We discussed what she had read, then continued to study together through Chapter 8, about Lehi's dream of the Tree of Life. She wanted to keep going, and was anxious to finish the next few chapters on her own time. The chapter tied perfectly in with our planned lesson for the day of continuing along the Commandments. She is super excited to come to church with us next week, and wants to stay for all three hours! It was one of the best, most tender lessons. Joy!
There is so much more to share, but so little time. Last night as we read the Book of Mormon together with another investigator of ours, she asked a question which really made me think: What was it about Nephi that helped him have such great faith? (Rough translation... hahaha... we were reading Nephi 2) I think a lot of it ties into a scriptures in James 2:17-- "Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone." Strong faith is not necessarily naturally inherent to a person... we are all capable of having great faith! It works like a muscle though... we can't just believe and that's the end of it. Faith consists of two parts--belief and action! Following Nephi, we have to start with a desire, which we act on (he prayed), then continue to act! Nephi strived to obey the commandments of God (another way he exercised faith), as well as listen to his parents. He set a great example for us to follow!
Anywho, I am out of time. Love you all so much! Have a wonderful week!
