Nothing feels better than a day where you gave your absolute best! It's exhausting, but oh so fulfilling. This week there were quite a few of those days! Last Tuesday Sister Ha went to Daejeon for a training meeting, so it was just me and Sister Sallander! It was a bit stressful and scary at first, but actually a lot of fun! Brings me back to the days at the MTC... where neither me nor my companion knew much Korean and had to rely a TON on the Spirit. It was a taste of what life will be like starting next week, when Sister Ha will leave our companionship and begin traveling to other areas as a Sister Traveling AP. Ahhh... we actually managed to get a few numbers and meet a potential investigator! At the end of the day I knew God approved of what we did--we exercised a ton of faith, were obedient, and did our best to follow the Spirit. Everything worked out so well that day, in a way that we couldn't have even planned! As nervous as I am to no longer have Sister Ha as a companion... I am way more excited for the challenge ahead! Also, shout out to Sister Sallander for being the best greenie I could have asked for! This week I've come to realize to a greater extent that God is all-wise and all-knowing. There's a purpose to why she and I are companions! And why I'm training her... God is amazing!
This week we've been meeting with our investigator Wang Ji Hyun. (Sorry if I've been spelling names different every time... Korean doesn't translate super well to our alphabet!) I just can't stop saying how amazing she is!! We met with her last week and she brought her 27 year old cousin-in-law along! It was such a great lesson--we taught about obedience to God's commandments, prayer, scripture study, keeping the Sabbath Day holy, and baptism. She is the sweetest girl and wants to continue meeting! Last night we also had family home evening with Wang Ji Hyun and she brought her family--including her parents and mother-in-law--and even more friends. We ate lots of good food, played a game where he had to open chocolate with chopsticks (super entertaining), and shared a message about eternal families. It was the best... words fail me. I just have so much love and admiration for her! And for how blessed my companionship has been lately. Things are looking good for the work here in Cheomdan! The Lord is opening all sorts of doors for us.
Yesterday, being fast and testimony Sunday, I spent quite a bit of time thinking about Jesus Christ, His example and sacrifice, and also the opportunities we have that come from it. This last week since I began training, I can not even express how inadequate, unprepared, and weak I've felt! It boggles my mind that I would be asked to train at this point... I'm not a perfect person. And definitely not a perfect missionary! But I'm so very grateful for the knowledge and testimony I have of Our Savior. Through turning to him in fervent prayer and study, I have been able to cast upon Him my fears, weaknesses, and inadequacies. And through doing so I have the opportunity to grow, to change, to become better and more like Him. A scripture comes to my mind, found in Moroni 10:32-33, which is a bit long to type up here. My favorite part is the beginning of verse 32, which holds and invitation to "come unto Christ and be perfected in Him." This is an invitation to all!! It is only through Christ, through learning of Him, following Him, and receiving His divine assistance, that we can become better individuals. We can overcome, or at least bear, anything and everything through His love and His help! He is perfect!
Well, I love you all dearly and look forward to when I can see y'all again!
