Yet another fantastic week... ya'll are probably tired of hearing that. haha. But it was so GOOD!! Also, I'm still shocked at how fast the weeks go by here. Days are long, but the weeks are SHORT! This week I had several new Korean experiences!! Including going to a DOG CAFE!!! Brought me back to my days working at Leader of the Pack... seriously felt like I was back there. We went with our investigator Song Ye Rim (송예림) and her brother to finish up teaching our last lesson! (She will be baptized this Sunday!!) It was so fun... and we all took tons of pictures. ^^
Tuesday we had Zone Conference!! Due to recent changes, I am now serving nearby/in the same zone as 4/5 of my 동기 (the missionaries with whom I came to Daejeon three months ago!). I was able to see them last week, including my MTC companion, Sister Peseta!! It was a truly special treat! Also, I always love Zone Conference and leave feeling refreshed and re energized! I'm thankful for my mission president and his wife, who are incredible examples of people who wholeheartedly love the Lord and desire to serve Him.
The rainy season seems to be over and weather here has been incredibly hot... and so humid. It's definitely a new experience, having this much sweat while doing nothing but existing... hahaha. Anyways! Small price to pay for the opportunity to be in the blessed land of Korea! I'm loving it here. And also appreciate the generosity of Koreans and how quick they are to offer cold drinks and cool breezes!
In many of our visits and lessons this week, we discussed the Lord's commandments and His standards. It coincided with my decision to begin reading the Book of Mormon again and focus on that during personal study (I took a break to read the New Testament, part of Old Testament, and Jesus the Christ... I love reading haha). It never ceases to amaze me how every time I read a portion, no matter how many times I've read it before, I ALWAYS learn something new! (Also, how much it testifies of the character of Christ.) This time in reading in chapter 3 of First Nephi, the part where Lehi's sons are asked to go back to Jerusalem to retrieve the brass plates, I was able to ponder a lot on God's commandments. In verse 5 Lehi says, "And now, behold thy brothers murmur, saying it is a hard thing which I have required of them; but behold I have no required it of them, but it is a commandment of the Lord." As a missionary, it is my responsibility to teach others and invite them to keep God's commandments... which sometimes leaves me feeling a bit awkward, to be honest, because it requires me to be bold at times (which is not in my comfort zone... haha). But I've come to learn that these things are not something that I, Sister Hatch, require of them... they are things that God is asking of them! And he has promised not only an abundance of blessings for those who keep His commandments, but also, as it says in verse 7, He has promised to always provide a way for His Children to keep His commandments. I know that God ALWAYS keeps His commandments!!
Anywho, I hope ya'll have a wonderful week! I am praying for so many of you! ^^
