My goodness, this transfer has gone by so fast!! In a week we will know what will happen... and it's pretty likely that at least two of us sisters will be leaving! Cheomdan is the only place I have know as a missionary in Korea... it will be heartbreaking to leave all of the wonderful people here. They say Cheomdan is the promised land of the Daejeon mission, and I've come to learn the truth of that statement. I have witnessed so many miracles here and felt so blessed!
This week was a bit of a less happy one, as one of the awesome investigators the elders were teaching began going through a super rough time! As a result, he decided not to be baptized anytime soon and no longer had time to meet, but said he would still attend church. Sister Ha and I were the first missionaries to meet him, by a bit of a coincidence we were at the church waiting for an investigator, as he wandered in and said he was looking to join a church. (It was pretty much a miracle... hahaha). We talked to him for a while before the elders came... Since that time he's come to church consistenly. We all love him so much---he's always smiling and cheerful, despite going through a rough time in his life.
Also, we received super sad news... one of the sisters in the ward was diagnosed last week with cancer. My companionship adopted her family when I first came to Cheomdan, and have been working closely with them to do missionary work. It's pretty heartbreaking news, as she's a single mother of three awesome girls... Yesterday we as missionaries decided to fast for her, her family, as well as the elder's investigator who is having a rough time.
One of my favorite scriptures is found in 2 Nephi 2:24, which says, "But behold, all things have been done in the wisdom of him who knoweth all things." I love this because it is a reminder that the things we experience in life--both the tender blessings as well as the rough moments--are all wisely designed by God. He is a perfect being, and as a perfect being He does not make any mistakes. Everything has been done in order to help us become better. Knowing this brings me so much hope, especially during times when I feel sad or discouraged.
Love you all!
