Hey ya'll! This week I have lots more photos!
-> Lots of plans fell through again... poor Sister McQueen! We've been alternating Senior weeks/responsibilities this transfer and it happened to be her week. She's super awesome though and works hard through the tough times and craziness. I'm so grateful we've been able to serve together for so long! We always manage to make it through not just alive, but usually with laughter.
-> Met many of our new investigators and also let go of some of our old ones... (one was a sweet lady who owned a studio where she taught students how to make wigs!). Just another week of missionary work!
-> Running in the mornings make a HUGE difference. The cold mornings are finally bearable again!
-> Last Pday we met up with four of the other sister missionaries serving in Daejeon area and went shopping for hanboks (traditional korean dress), along with our recent convert 정나연. Super awesome day!
One thing that stood out to me this last week is the joy that comes from the gospel. The word gospel simply means good news. And what is that good news? The good news is that since we are God's children and He loves us, He has a plan for us to become like Him and have eternal joy. As part of that plan--in fact the BIGGEST and central part of that plan--is His Son, Jesus Christ, who saves and redeems us from the mistakes and sins that we make in this life. Through Him we can CHANGE--we can become better. He ENABLES us, giving us strength beyond our own to overcome the struggles we face in this life. It is BECAUSE OF HIM that we can live with our Father in Heaven again.
How beautiful is that?
The joy that I feel in knowing this gospel is greater than I can express in any words. It brings hope and light to my life. I see so many other who are plugging along in life, living on the surface. They don't see the true and deeper meaning of things, but are caught up in the distractions and fleeting moments. Some of them choose this out of obliviousness, and some by conscious decision.
But I know that "men are that, that they might have joy." (2 Nephi 2:25) This life, despite all of its trials and struggles, is about JOY! True and EVERLASTING joy. I'm so grateful for my Savior Jesus Christ and for the light He brings to my life. I know He lives and loves us. I know it's only through Him and choosing to follow Him that we can experience this joy. I rejoice in this gospel!
( I would encourage you all to read again Elder Uchtdorf's Oct 2015 Conference talk "A Summer with Great Aunt Rose." I just love it!)
Have an awesome week! Love ya'll!!
